At Wild Ginger Herbal Center we are grateful to build in community to keep the knowledge of our food, herbal medicine, birthways and our healing traditions alive and vital within our communities. Our belief is that plant medicine is the people's medicine, everyone of us comes from a lineage of plant people, and this knowledge is our birthright.
Who we are:
Hi! We are Molly & Javier and Wild Ginger is our family run project! It is our honor to steward this project and we are incredibly thankful to be able to do so. About 10 years ago Molly began this project and for the last 7 years together, our family has shared our love of community and the beautiful plants. We work together with many amazing teachers and community members to create our programs. Together, we hold many different hats as well as identities in our small business. Molly was born and raised outside of Washington DC and is of Irish ancestry - she is an herbalist, gardener, loves to create our programs and events as well as teach and also coordinates logistical and administration. Javier is Afro-Costa Rican, born and raised on the Caribbean coast, is amazing in the garden and farm, loves to share about local animals in Costa Rica, transportation, hosting guests in Costa Rica and so much more. We are thankful to build in community with those who join us!
We are a small family run and community oriented educational center business. Our goal is to keep our classes inspiring, useful, affordable & accessible while honoring the time, energy, and knowledge our teachers come to share. Wild Ginger programs act as catalysts to build community, land-based, and traditional knowledge. We celebrate the richness and diversity of folk herbalism across cultures while providing supportive and practical knowledge. We honor the incredible knowledge present within our communities and aim to collectively build with students and our teachers who are all community based herbalists, farmers, and plant people in the communities we work, the knowledge is right here! Most of our classes are open to all - however if there is a class for a specific community, that will always be defined in class info!
