Beginning 2020 one bright studio apartment is available for a minimum of one year though we are open to longer, we would love to cultivate a long term relationship with someone who would like to call this place home.
We are located about 45 minutes south of Washington DC
The space is 500 square feet, has a private entrance, includes parking for one or two vehicles, includes a large open living room bedroom space, a kitchen with full stove, fridge, washer and dryer, as well as a bathroom with shower. The studio is located on site Wild Ginger Herbal Center in a seperate but attached studio off of the main farm house. The site is very quiet for most of the year, however during four to five months a year we run our herbal school of the land and students come on weekends mostly and have classes in our outdoor gardens as well as classroom out in the outbuilding. This is a rustic space, without any kinds of frills and someone coming to live here must understand this simple country lifestyle.
Rent is $700 per month for up to two people
The apartment uses wood heat (as in yes, we tend wood stoves to heat here because the cost of running the oil furnace is cost prohibative- which is tentant's responsibility as well as 1/3 total utilities of house (electric, FIOS internet, trash, there is no fee for our beautiful well water!) A cord of wood is about $250 unstacked, one could use between 4-5 cords over the winter depending how much you are home. Bulk deals on multiple cords of wood are available from local sellers. We provide AC during summer days above 90 degrees and that is part of electric bill split as mentioned apartment pays 1/3 of electric bill.
The studio is unfurnished but has a washer and a dryer.
Deposit is $700
A pet can be considered with a Non-refundable $200 pet deposit
No smoking inside (we prefer no cigarettes on site)
No subletting
The rental includes the apartment - if interested in space to garden or otherwise this can be discussed.
Must have references from past/present housing/employment
$700 month/$700 security deposit
Rent plus deposit due to secure space, thereafter rent is due on the 28th of each month in CASH ( a receipt will be given) unless otherwise arranged.

Wild Ginger Herbal Center
Its a very peaceful environment, relaxed, occasionally hosting camp fires or potlucks for local friends etc. While the farm open to the public during class times, it is often very quiet, especially during the winter season when we do not hold classes or public programs. Classes and visitors never enter the the rental unit, which is residents private home space. Our peaceful homestead about 45 minutes south of DC in Bryans Road, MD, we have fruit trees, herb gardens, lots of peace and quiet and more. It's a peaceful sanctuary not too far outside of the city. There is a commuter bus a short drive away that goes directly into DC. We're located very close to the Potomac River, and are adjacent to a 5000 acre national park as well as several state parks with hiking trails, organic farm, fishing pier, and more. It is a very easy commute for work or school to DC, Waldorf, La Plata, etc.
