April 25 - Natural Dyes with Ayo Ngozi
Learn the basics of dyeing using herbs, spices and other plant materials in this DIY workshop. We’ll learn about natural dye sources, how to extract colors, and using mordants to fix natural, rich colors in cotton or wool.
June 20 - Natural Incense Making with Ayo Ngozi
In this hands-on workshop we’ll learn the basics of making incense from aromatic herbs, including information on the differences between dough incense and loose incense, the various ingredients used in incense-making, helpful tools and how to store your homemade incense.
August 15 - Soapmaking with Joey Pascarella
Have you ever admired the soaps at the farmers market or crafters fair and wondered how to make such beautiful creations? Well wonder no more, join us at Centro Ashé for an evening herbal soap making with Joey Pascarella of Slippery Slope Farm. This practical hands on class will include learning some of the healing qualities of herbs before we get down and dirty and make several batches of soap. This is a great class to take before the holiday season and will give you all the skills you need to make soap for yourself, or as gifts for family and friends!
Sept. 12 - The Art of Coffee Roasting with Jose Castillo
Did you know that if you listen carefully that coffee beans will sing to you while roasting to let you know when they are done? Learn the incredible art of coffee roasting with Jose Castillo! Jose and his family have their family coffee farm in Guatemala, and he importants roasts their incredible Alcoba coffee here in the DC area. Join us for an evening learning all about coffee, and we'll actually go through the process of roasting here onsite with Jose's antique coffee roaster!

Take the Capital Beltway (I-495/95 S) or I-295 going south. From I-295 take exit 1A onto I-95 N/I-495 N/MD-210 toward Baltimore, follow signs for MD-210 S/Indian Head Hwy. From the Beltway, take exit 3 onto MD-210 S/Indian Head Hwy and go 12.5 miles. Take right on Maryland 227 W (Marshall Hall Road) go 4.3 miles. Take a left on River Road go 1.2 miles, take a left on Chester Ave and go .1 miles - the farm will be on your left.

From Waldorf, turn onto Route 228 and follow seven miles to the end. Turn left (south) onto Indian Head Highway and go 4 miles. Take right on Maryland 227 W (Marshall Hall Road) go 4.3 miles. Take a left on River Road go 1.2 miles, take a left on Chester Ave and go .1 miles - the farm will be on your left.
Public Transportation from DC:
Public buses do run to and from Bryans Road on a regular but somewhat limited basis. If you plan to take the bus to one of our events we are able to help arrange you a ride down the road to our farm from the bus stop.
