About Our Instructor: Ileana Gonzalez People often ask me how I came to discover ayurveda. As if it were a secret treasure, completely hidden from the exterior world! But actually ayurveda found *me*, at the right time and at the right place; and like an unexpected Divine present I opened my heart to it, let it in, and let it transform me.
That was in 2009, after being laid off from my high-profile, high-paying job in IT consulting; I left everything and decided to travel the world for the next few months. The Universe did the rest: I ended up in India, looking for “something” to do while I visited that country, and ayurveda inevitably made a huge entrance into my life! Before that, I hadn’t even heard of ayurveda, and had barely had exposure to yoga, but so many things started falling into place for me: my spiritual restlessness, my insistence on treating illness naturally and gently, my conviction that the key to health is in our hands. My guru at Arsha Vidya Peetam Trust planted a loving seed in my heart and I knew that my life would never be the same. How could it be??
After 3 months of being at the ashram, a seed was planted in my heart (thank you guruji Dr. Hari) I knew that something like this doesn’t stumble into your life by accident. In 2012 I also spent time with Dr. Vasant Lad at the gurukula he hosts every year at his clinic in Pune, India (Maharastha), getting a first-hand look at the traditional, clinical application of Ayurveda under the guidance of Dr. Lad.
I feel compelled to share ayurveda with as many people as will listen, and to help as many people as will come to me for help. In sum, I feel inspired to become a healer, a humble instrument of the world’s most ancient, and most truthful healing method. With God’s grace, my practice will continue to thrive, so that I can always be here to bring ayurveda closer to those who need it!
