Beginning September 1, 2016 we are looking for folks that would like to come and live here at Centro Ashé and rent our main house. Our main house which is four bedrooms and two bathrooms will be available for rent for one year lease, renewable after that period., No subletting.
The house is a simple farmhouse its a unique situation in that I live here half the year in my sepearate apartment and often have a friends living in my apartment while I am gone in Costa Rica during the winter, and also unique in that this is an herbal school and education center onsite of the house. I have an attached apartment that is separate but on the side of the house. We have public programs that are often practical and land based on the farm very often between April-October. Open communication and cooperation is central.
Contact me with your interest, let me know who you are, what interests you about this opportunity, who would be living here, and what would be your vision for living here. [email protected]
Our Home
Its a very peaceful environment, relaxed, occasionally hosting camp fires or potlucks for local friends, and hanging out on the porch during the summer. While the farm open to the public during class times, it is often very quiet, especially during the winter season when we do not hold classes or public programs. Classes and visitors never enter the main house, which is residents private home space. Our peaceful homestead about 45 minutes south of DC in Bryans Road, MD, we have fruit trees, herb gardens, chickens, abundant organic veggies, and more. It's a peaceful sanctuary not too far outside of the city. We're located very close to the Potomac River, and are adjacent to a 5000 acre national park as well as several state parks with hiking trails, organic farm, fishing pier, and more. It is a very easy commute for work or school to DC, Waldorf, La Plata, etc.
Rent and Logistics
The four bedroom 2 bathroom home includes a living room and kitchen/eat in dining room. The lease is one year and rent is $450 per month plus utilties (electric, internet, trash, heating oil during winter). One of your roomates has a dog in the house.. A deposit of $450 is required plus first months rent to move in.
The house uses heating oil, and we do have AC however have thus far used it sparingly. Wireless internet which is satellite is challenging depending on your lifestyle, we CANNOT stream videos or music but its okay for checking email, paying bills online - however there is a public library 5 minutes away with great fast internet).
There is no current laundry hookup in the house - but laundrymat up the road. There could be a possibility of installing an outdoor washing machine during summer months. It is a very commutable distance to DC, a great peaceful place to live while having access to the city. The traffic can be intense so be aware that there is still rush hour going up to the city in the morning and down in the evening. Near waldorf, la plata, accokeek, and more.
